Harper Lee was born on April 28, 1926 in Monroeville, Alabama. She was one of four siblings and her father was a prestigious lawyer and part owner of the local newspaper; Harper Lee’s mother had a mental illness for most of her life. When she graduated in 1944 she went to an all-girls school, Huntington College. She developed a strong passion for writing and English. She also wrote for the school newspaper and became editor of the Rammer Jammer. After being accepted to Oxford, she dropped out and moved to New York City to pursue her dream as a writer.
While she was in New York City, Lee decided to write full time after struggling for a couple years.She wrote, "Go Set a Watchman" and "To Kill a Mockingbird", which was finished in 1959. In 1960, her most famous book,"To Kill a Mockingbird" was published. The following year, it won the Pulitzer Prize along with other literary awards; she also sold the film writes, and "To Kill a Mockingbird" became a very famous movie, starring Gregory Peck. Harper Lee also was very good friends with Truman Capote. When she didn’t publish her second book she devoted some of her time to helping him. In his book, "In Cold blood", he dedicated the book to lee, but failed to mention her contributions. After that, she disappeared from the public eye and hadn’t published anything since. Harper lee is remembered for writing one of the great books of our time.

You did a really nice job summing up her accomplishments and the path she took to attain her goals. I also visited some of he same websites you did, so I wrote about the same information, although I focused more on her childhood and relations to other people. I find it interesting that she helped Truman Capote write his book instead of writing a second book. I really wonder what stopped her from writing a second novel. Perhaps it was writer's block, or maybe something happened that prevented her from writing. I also wonder why she never got married. I guess I shouldn't be surprised because she didn't have many friends in college. Remember to italicize Truman Capote's book title.
